Mission, Vision & Virtues
Mission
At St John Fisher Catholic Academy our mission statement is 'Educating for Life'.
The school mission statement is 'Educating for Life' and this philosophy underpins every aspect of school life. Central to our educational philosophy is the education of the whole person and care for every student.
We recognise and value each child's unique gifts and qualities, and we encourage them to develop spiritually, morally, intellectually and personally to their full potential.
We are committed to serving our local community and supporting our partner Catholic primary schools and parishes. We work in close collaboration with other schools, colleges and the wider community for our mutual good.
We welcome applicants from people of all faiths who wish to benefit from and can support our Catholic ethos.
Vision
By providing an outstanding Catholic education, we enable our young people to develop spiritually, morally, intellectually and personally so that when they leave us, they have the qualifications, confidence, compassion and faith to make a valuable contribution to society and be a force for good in the world.
Virtues
The virtues we strive to live by at St John Fisher Catholic Academy are:
- Attentiveness – Listening carefully, being present, and truly understanding others and our faith.
- Compassion – Showing kindness and empathy to everyone, especially those in need.
- Gratitude – Appreciating the gifts we have and expressing thankfulness in word and action.
- Perseverance – Staying committed and resilient, even when challenges arise.
- Responsibility – Taking ownership of our actions and contributing positively to our community.
- Self-control – Managing our emotions and behaviour with maturity and respect for others.
We believe that virtues, much like good habits, become a natural part of our students' lives through teaching, encouragement and example. By clearly explaining why these virtues matter and how to live them out, we aim to build a community grounded in shared values and faith — a community where these virtues shape not just behaviour, but character.
Our virtues are woven through every part of school life including collective worship, the personal development programme and 'faith in action' activities.
